What is Full Steam Ahead?

If your kids are interested in trains, engineering, or just need something fun to do this autumn, Full Steam Ahead is the program for them! With indoor and outdoor exhibits, hands-on activities, and a Make-Your-Own Blueprint activity, your little engineer will have a blast.

The Reading Railroad Heritage Museum, located in Hamburg, PA, is owned and operated by the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society, a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the Reading Railroad.

Help Preserve Railroad History - Join the RCT&HS!

Individuals interested in preserving history and the legacy of one of America’s most influential rail systems are the most important resource we have! Here are just a few of the ways you can help:

Museum Helpers Wanted

The Museum Operations Committee is looking for people to help at the Heritage Museum in Hamburg.  We have a series of training sessions for anyone interested in volunteering at the museum, to familiarize everyone with where things are and how the cash register, DVD and credit card processing work. We will also have sessions for those wishing to do outdoor equipment display tours. They will be less than one hour long and you only need attend one.

If you can only help once or twice a year, we want you too! We need over 5,000 man-hours a year just to support the museum operations.  And that's just for normal staffing and does not count all the hours that goes in to maintenance, yard work, construction, etc.

Please let Dale Woodland know when you can help. 215-723-5848 or dwwrdg@verizon.net.

Please Support the Track Fund!

The rail car protection building has been erected. Now funds are needed to build tracks approaching it and inside it. After the track is built, the rolling stock will be repositioned to interpret the collection more completely for visitors.
